George Comics traffic be ’splodin!
March 7th, 2008I want to say thanks to everyone who’s stopped by the site these past few days. George has broken its daily traffic record three days in a row now, so I’d like to let out a hearty HELLO to all the new readers! And the number one city for the first week of March has actually been London. I feel so high-class! I should probably run out and buy some tea and/or crumpets. What exactly are crumpets? Can I procure them in these United States? There have also been lot of international visits from Budapest, Calgary, and Halifax, as well as lots of spread-out visits from all over Germany, Australia, Romania, Denmark, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and Norway, as well as scattered hits from…well, every continent except Antarctica. Damn penguins.
As far as the U.S.A. goes, the number one city, just a single visit behind London, was Los Angeles. Then came Newark, Seattle, New York City, and Naples, which hey, I thought was in Italy! Turns out there’s a Naples in Florida. I’m sorry, Florida, being 3,000 miles away, I’m just not that familiar with your Italy-themed city names. My apologies. Anyway, welcome to you all, and don’t forget to either subscribe to the RSS feed, sign up for George e-mails, or just give it a good old-fashioned bookmark!

SOme time ago you said that your pageview record (for the blog I guess) was over 2,000. I am just curious what is it now? And (you can answer this in a private e-mail) do you make any money form the ads? How does it work for you? Are you happy with “the monetizing” of your web presence? Or is it all (the promise of the big buck from your content) a big BS created by ad producers and blog portals?

According to Google Analytics, my peak number of pageviews, which occurred on March 7, is a little more than 3,200. According to Project Wonderful, however, my big ad at the top of every page was displayed a little more than 4,000 times that day. Last time I posted about my pageview record, Google Analytics also gave a lower pageview number than my web host statistics did, so I averaged the two. Doing that here, I’d say the record is now somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,600. It’s hard to say PRECISELY how many pageviews any website gets in any given day, but that’s my best educated guess! Also, the ads here don’t make a whole lot of money; they pay for my hosting fee plus a tiny bit extra. Better than nothing, I guess…webcomics aren’t really very profitable, on the whole, save for a few incredibly lucky people. But hey, they’re fun to do, and I’m glad people are reading mine!

Looks perfectly straight to me. Of course, I’m also the type of person who allegedly [ahem! allegedly] agree with everything.
